Autoptic examination
The two-tone yellow and red paint finish is preserved on the entire front and back of the work. Yellow paint remains on the animal, on Diana's flesh, drapery, and quiver. Red covers the cloth and extends onto the animal's body, where two parallel brushstrokes trace the outline of the cloth.

Polychromy technique
The same stratigraphy technique in applying pigments is observed on the goddess, on the animal and also on the base. A white primer covers the entire surface and is then covered with yellow or red. Shades and shadows are created by layering an orange pigment on the animal's body and the goddess's drapery. Analysis’ results suggests the use of a mixture of lead white and hematite
